Phones other than Virgin Android / Re: Phone for travel
« on: April 05, 2013, 12:54:10 PM »
In case anyone goes to The Bahamas and needs to know...head downtown in Nassau to BTC to get a sim card and a 30$ data card for a cheap gsm phone (make sure it is quad band).  Once the data got going, we hotspotted our Evos and the iPad and carried on as usual. :D

I got the  same text, and it freaked me out at first because according to my phone I haven't even used 10 mg of data.

Let your new carrier handle this.  There is no need to do it yourself.

We have all of those (though I have never seen a coyote with my own eyes, here, my brother saw one onhis way over here once and took a picture to prove it), but the ponds around here suffer from raccoons most of all.  Those little hands of theirs.   ::)

You have to look out for raccoons in a pond, too.

really??? i don't like the whole thing! like honestly its like going to someones house or going to a family party. I get they want to know more about a worker, but its just invading privacy.

A good rule of thumb is that if it makes you worry someone will read it, don't post it on the Internet  ;)

It depends.

If you just want fish-only, you can keep down the expenses, but you still have, in addition to the tank/filters/lights you would have with fresh, salt and if you weren't using test kits before, you will have to add those in.

If you want fish-only with live rock, you have to buy LR, and if you want it to "grow" you will have to up-grade the lighting.

If you want a reef, you definitely have to get good lighting, because many of the reef inhabitants will use the light to produce food.  And there are wave makers, chillers and all manner of accessoires that I never even knew existed with a freshwater tank.

Plus, the cost of livestock can be very high.  very, very high, in some cases.

We are remodelling a room to buld a custom reef tank (though at the pace my husband and I move with our easily-distracted personalities, this may be a retirement project :P)

the last tank I had set up was a 12 gallon nano reef.  It was beautiful, but the heater malfunctioned while we were gone for the weekend and pretty much boiled the thing.  It had about $2000 in it :-\  You could easily get 6k in a 40.

Virgin Mobile chat / Re: Virgin Meida

they have SIM cards because they are in the UK, and almost everyone else in the world uses GSM.

Here, we are on Sprint and use CDMA.  If you want a sim card here, you need to switch to ATT or T-Mobile ( or one of their children).

Virgin Media isn't exactly like Virgin Mobile--it is more like Charter or Comcast with a mobile company in the mix.  Snd they have contract phones, too, like Verizon or ATT.

I am not complaining.

I wonder though--if I were a Virgin Media customer and visited the US, I would have to switch to one of their US competitors while here. Somehow that strikes me as odd.

The only thing he will find difficult is the added bulk, otherwise, it's pretty much better in every way.

Speaking of added bulk...I got a cheapo non-Samsung Note to use on vacation, and this thing is bigger than my first television set...

Bettas seem do do best in really small spaces.  A gallon or so.  If it is to big, they just hang in one corner.

Don't put one of those peace lilies in a vase with one, though (do they even sell those set ups anymore? )  bettas need air to breathe, and they are carnivorous, so they need room to get pellets.  I don't think bettas like to be in tanks with any other fish.  Maybe a snail or a frog, but no other fish.  Their fins are just too tempting to other residents.
