Stuck at HTC logo on boot
« on: June 16, 2012, 01:53:15 AM »
If for some reason this happens to you, don't panic.

First off see if you can reach recovery, if so, just flash a new rom. If you cannot get to the rom or recovery, then you probably lost your recovery and rom. Yes, this sucks, but we can fix it (probably).

You will need a few tools...
HTC Sync
Recovery, TWRP 1.1.1 will get you going again.
Mini-sdk

1. Install the HTC Sync
2. Now extract the mini-sdk, if you use Windows, install it to C:\sdk-tools then you can just copy and paste.
3. Copy the recovery file into the folder sdktools, and rename it recovery.img
4. Pull the battery in your phone for a moment to turn it off
5. With the battery out, pull the sdcard and copy a compatible rom onto it, then put it back.
6. Now put the battery back, and hold volume down and power until you see the bootloader screen.
7. Plug in your usb cable, it should say It should say "FASTBOOT USB" in red highlight.
8. Open command prompt. This can be done by typing "cmd" (no quotes) into the run/search box, or go to start menu, all programs/accessories/command prompt
9. In the command prompt window, change to the sdk folder by typing "cd C:\sdk-tools" (minus quotes) then press Enter.
10. Now type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" (no quotes) then press Enter.
11. Now type "fastboot boot recovery.img" (no quotes) then press Enter.

You should now be in your recovery.
Install the rom from your SDcard and you should be good. Hopefully you have everything backed up.

thank you for this. I'm sure it will end up being helpful to many people, including myself  ;D

I remember when I got the OV, my first Android device, and tried to root and flash a ROM, and of course got a bootloop  :)

I started the wiretrick steps... I have run controlbear and I think that may be the issue, I have downloaded the recovery several times.  Is there an RUU for the phone?

Check Android Forums, they have the RUU.
